MAJID MICHEL THE MOVIE STAR

Majid Michel leading with 5180 which is approximately 29.7%. In an interview with the management of the website, they revealed that before they came out with the top five, they first conducted a poll looking for the best actress for 2010 which had MAJID MICHEL winning the best male actor of the year.

Majid said the situation gets worse at locations in villages where a whole crowd can gather just to catch a glimpse of him, “I guess it’s because they just can’t believe I’m the same person they see in movies and they want to come as close as possible to make sure they are seeing right.”
Being in the public eye however is not new to the gorgeous actor who started his career some eight years ago when he played the naughty character, Shaker in the popular TV serial Things We Do For Love,
“I actually started off with the series, Things We Do For Love, I got the role after an audition. It was originally for radio and when the producers decided to adopt it for TV, they maintained some of us and brought in a new set of actors for the other roles.”
Majid also played roles in other series like Home Sweet Home and Games People Play, “my first movie was a Venus Films Production, Divine Love which was shot in 2004 in which I played alongside the likes of Jackie Appiah, Van Vicker, Rama Brew and a couple of others.
Determined as he was and having caught the eyes of many producers, Majid has since then played various roles in movies like Deadly Assignment, Tears of Womanhood, Passion and Soul, Crime to Christ, Playboy, Agony of the Christ, Blood Fight among others.
Like a number of his colleagues, his career has taken him to Nigeria where he has done a few jobs to enrich his CV. Among them is The Shepherd which starred popular Nigerian actor, Jim Iyke.
Of all the movies Majid has starred in, he says he does not have a favourite because he plays completely different roles and they all come with their own demands which he does well to interpret, “I’ll say they are all my favourite,” he chipped in with a smile.
Showbiz wanted to know which actress Majid feels most comfortable playing love scenes with
Hear him, “Anyone, I do well to interpret scripts to the best of my ability so even if I’m given a monster to play a love scene with, I will.”
Majid said he has never had a crush on any actress, “I guess it’s probably because I haven’t connected with anyone on those lines, they are all my friends and we get on very well on and off set.”
Exactly what will Majid be doing when he is not on set? Well, he is not a full-time actor, Majid runs a production house, Ad-Visors with three of his mates from school and they are mainly into documentaries, “some of the many documentaries that have rolled out of our company are the Tigo Corporate Social Responsibility, Exquisite Face of the Universe 2006 & 2008 World Events and a documentary on when the former UN Secretary General Kofi Annan was made chancellor of the University of Ghana.”

AN AMAZING FATHER AND HUSBAND

Many film enthusiasts will be quite surprised to know that popular actor, Majid Michel is a family man with a wife and two daughters. Right! Majid, who turned 28 years on September 22 this year got married four years ago to pretty Virna and they have been blessed with two lovely girls, Keira three years and Zara who is only three months old.
Showbiz caught up with Majid at his office in Tesano and we had quite an interesting chat. Undoubtedly one of the finest actors on the local film industry, Majid says stardom has not gotten into his head at all and jokingly added, “I think the public will judge if stardom has gotten into my head.”
Of course Majid is enjoying some of the benefits that comes with being a star and said it feels good to walk into a supermarket and pick things for free simply because people are excited to have you there.
Like a coin, it has two sides and the other thing Majid has to live with is harassment from both female and male fans, “sometimes they get all over me and request for my phone number so what I usually do is ask my personal assistant to take their numbers instead so I do the calling which I never get to do,” he confessed.

WHAT AN AMAZING SON HE IS ?
Majid attended St Theresa’s Preparatory School, Mfantsipim School and the Academy of Screen Arts in collaboration with Ashesi University.
He is the last of 10 children of the late Michael Michel, a Lebanese and Paulina Olympio, a Ghanaian. Majid says his going into acting did not come as a surprise to his family because they saw it coming, “as a child, I use to act with my sisters at home, we created our own scenarios and acted them out, we had great fun doing that,” he recollected.
Inspite of his busy schedule, Majid finds some time to unwind. He loves Martial Arts and drawing and confesses that he can draw any second. His favourite hang-out is an open air-bar at Tesano where he usually hangs out with his buddies.
Give him a bowl of salad or bread with anything in it (even shito) and Majid will be genuinely grateful. What the youngman cannot stand are people he calls obvious hypocrites, they put him off big time.

His role model is Al Pacino and Majid says his fans should watch out for a movie he is going to direct early next year, “you wouldn’t want to miss that for anything.................
